Learning Outcomes
This certificate is valid worldwide.
Cochlea Pune initiated a training program in December 2008 aimed at training mothers of hearing-impaired children. Recognizing the crucial role of the mother as the child’s first mentor and teacher, the program sought to equip mothers with the necessary skills to effectively teach and support their hearing-impaired children.
In 2013, parents from various talukas (administrative divisions) in the Pune district, whose children were identified through camps held in rural areas, were encouraged to participate in the parent training program. The objective was to empower these parents to establish local training centers in their respective villages, thereby expanding the reach of the program and providing support closer to home for families with hearing-impaired children.
Upon successful completion of the training program, participants receive a certificate. There is no specific age requirement to undertake the training, and any member of the deaf child’s family, such as parents, uncles, aunts, or grandparents, can participate in the program. The duration of the training program is six months, and it is essential to maintain at least 80% attendance throughout the course to successfully complete it.
The speech and language training provided to hearing-impaired babies is a comprehensive
process that typically spans a period of 3-4 years.
